Dynamic colors abound in Merbau, with its yellow to orange-brown coloring darkening over time to a rich brown to red-brown. Merbau may also have yellow flecking in its pores, so that when it is finished, flecks of yellow dot the surface like bits of gold. The wood has a course texture with a grain that can vary from wavy to straight to interlocked. Merbau is also durable, very stable, and highly resistant to termites.
